Overview

JournalJams ("we", "our", or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application and website.

Educational Use and AI-Generated Content

JournalJams is intended for educational purposes only. The information provided is not intended to be a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.

JournalJams uses artificial intelligence to analyze and summarize medical literature. AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, omissions, or "hallucinations" (plausible-sounding but incorrect information). Always verify all information against primary sources and peer-reviewed literature. Do not rely solely on AI-generated summaries for clinical decision-making. The developers of JournalJams are not responsible for any errors or omissions in AI-generated content.

Information We Collect

You can use JournalJams without creating an account. If you choose to sign up, which is required for Pro features, we collect your email address and password. Your password is securely hashed and never stored in plain text. If you sign in through Google or Apple, we may also receive your name, depending on what you choose to share with those providers.

When you search for medical studies or upload PDFs, that content is sent to our servers for AI-powered analysis. Your past analyses are saved to your account so you can revisit them later, and you can delete individual searches at any time. We also track how many searches you have performed each month in order to manage free-tier usage limits.

If you use JournalJams without an account, we generate a random identifier stored on your device to track your monthly usage count. This identifier is not linked to your identity and stays on your device.

If you submit feedback through the app, we collect your message, the category you selected, and basic device information such as browser type to help us reproduce and fix issues.

We do not track your location. We do not access your contacts, photos, or other device data. We do not use advertising trackers or analytics SDKs. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.

How We Use Information

We use the information we collect to provide AI-powered article analysis, to save your search history so you can revisit past analyses, to manage your subscription and enforce usage limits, and to respond to feedback or support requests.

Third-Party Services

JournalJams uses Google Gemini to process your search queries and generate AI-powered analysis. Queries are sent in real-time and are not stored by us beyond what is saved in your search history. Google's handling of this data is subject to the Google Privacy Policy.

Your account information, search history, and subscription data are securely stored using Supabase, a hosted database service. You can learn more about how Supabase handles data in the Supabase Privacy Policy.

Web payment processing is handled by Stripe. We never see or store your credit card details. All payment information is managed directly by Stripe in accordance with the Stripe Privacy Policy. iOS in-app purchases and subscription management are handled by RevenueCat, subject to the RevenueCat Privacy Policy.

If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, your authentication is handled by those providers. We receive only the information you authorize them to share, such as your email address and name.

Your Rights and Controls

You may permanently delete your account and all associated data, including your profile, search history, usage data, and subscription records, from the Account screen in the iOS app or by contacting us directly. You may also delete individual searches from your history at any time. Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time through your Stripe account on the web or through Apple's subscription settings on iOS.

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information during transmission and storage. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Database access is protected by row-level security policies that ensure users can only access their own data.

Children's Privacy

JournalJams is not intended for use by children under the age of 17. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date.
